Our Merranti is sourced from Malaysia in the Far  East

Malaysia has more than 2,500 species of trees and with a land mass that is three quarters covered by forest, it has harnessed this most natural of resources to become the world's fifth largest producer of tropical timbers.

Conservation is regulated at national level through state forest management and conservation laws and there are many protected areas including national parks, wildlife reserves and virgin jungle reserves.

Meranti and keruing are among the main species of tropical red hardwoods exported to the UK from Malaysia. Sapele sourced from West Africa is now making a strong resurgence to rival meranti, stimulated by the improved continuity of supply from this continent

American White Oak has become increasingly popular as a result of the decline in specification of tropical hardwoods.
It is One of the most widely used American hardwood species.
Seen everyday in offices, building society premises and modern public buildings.

White Oak

(Quercus alba)

White oaks are found in abundance in the eastern half of the USA. All are heavy, very hard and strong. White oaks vary by region and site condition in their colour, texture, moisture content, average length and width. The timber is moderately durable.
Uses: architectural interiors, wall panelling, furniture, flooring, millwork, boxes and crates.

We also offer a Special Machining Service where any sample of moulding can be reproduced exactly to pattern.
